Winter Time Fun

Park City in the winter really is fun. I complain like mad about all the tourists but if you forget about them, it's just about perfect around here. Especially when it's dumping snow! Love it.

My drive to work. You may wonder why I'm taking pictures while driving in snowstorm. Don't worry it's only kinda of deadly...

They past couple of weeks have been jammed packed with events.

Sundance Film Festival is going on right now and i am volunteering again. You may recall that i did it last year and saw all of these famous people. Sadly, i don't recognize half the people i see and have to look them up later to find their names.

Friday night i met Adrian Grenier (From Entourage on HBO). This is him doing a Q&A after his documentary played.

Bad angle, I wasn't supposed to be taking pictures while working :-)

That same night Paris Hilton asked me where the bathroom was... I can pretty much die happy now. (you can't hear the sarcasm in my voice so i'm writing it out. I'm being sarcastic)

We also hosted the World Cup Aerial and Mogul finals here and they are always fun to watch.

Do you see the tiny ski jumper flying through the air? Click on the pic and it will get bigger. I think they are nuts...but crazy talented. The USA didnt' do great but an Aussie girl won, I was very happy for Bush Babe.

My girls.

Sweet fireworks after the aerials.

Very polite man who came and stood right in front of me. (catching the sarcasm again?)

Drunk guy dancing. Very entertaining.

Saturday night was the Superpipe Finals. Some of the best snowboarders in the world were here. It was very cool.

The pipe.

Again, totally nuts and very talented.

The girls again. I tried to make them let me take it but I ended up in it...

There were boys with us (see image further down), lest you think it's always us girls. Do you see the green checkered coat behind us? That's Chip Bullen. Just saying.

Do you see the giant pink and gray bear hats? Japanese tourists.

Trying to flatten out a spot to stand. We were all on a pretty steep slope and kept sliding down.

Good times.

Sweet concert after. 30 Seconds To Mars. It was dumping snow, they didn't play long.

Well that's a little recap of winter in Park City for a single gal and friends. I am volunteering again with Sundance tonight and Wednesday, so i will keep you updated on celebrity sightings...if I recognize them.

BYWho?

I went to a BYU basketball game on Saturday.

I don't like BYU...but they were playing CSU and my friend Brittany went there. So we went to cheer them on.

Actually, i cheered for both sides. I don't like to take sides. I believe that every accomplishment should be recognized. People hate going to games with me...

Anyhoo, turns out halftime was the best part. A group of ladies, aged 50-93, called the Golden Girls performed and they were so great! They wore sparkling cowboy hats and danced to Love Shack. They did THE ROBOT!!! Yup, you heard me, the robot. It was amazing.

Then...

The oldest lady in the group did a little solo. She totally rocked out. Then at the age of 93 she did a high kick to rival any cheerleader there. She ended in the splits. The splits. I can't do the splits.

It was rather amazing.

Game was good. CSU lost. Little boy sitting by us was really really annoying. Good times!

Oh! Parting shot. Does this ad make anyone else laugh as hard as i did?

The mascot for BYU is a cougar. But I'm really just picturing the hotel filling up with 55 yr old women and their 22 yr old boy toys :-)

Mailbox Monday - 1/4/10

Yeah, I know, the date is off a bit.

I actually got this book from a friend on Sunday the 3rd and finished it Monday night, the 4th. I really liked it...

The Valkyries by Paulo Coelho. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

-The Valkyries is a compelling account of this forty day quest into the searing heat of the Mojave Desert, where Paulo and his wife, Chris, encounter the Valkyries -- warrior women who travel the desert on motorcycles, spreading the word of angels. This exotic spiritual odyssey is a rare combination of truth, myth, imagination and inspiration. Ultimately it is a story about being able to forgive our past and believe in our future.

He just speaks so beautifully. He introduces ideas and concepts and really made me think. I love the idea that we all have a guardian angel. I also loved his ideas about expanding our sight which in turn would help our souls to grow. Looking past the bubble we create around us and taking more in. Looking at the horizon. Oh and our second mind! Oh that was just great. Okay, you just need to read this book!

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"The only reasons for action...
For Love,
For Victory,
For the glory of God."

"Have courage... Open your heart, and listen to what your dreams tell you. Follow those dreams, because only a person who is not ashamed can manifest the glory of God."

"One has only to accept a simple fact: Love - of God and of others - shows us the way. Our defects, our dangerous depths, our suppressed hatreds, our moments of weakness and desperation - all are unimportant. If what we want to do is to heal ourselves first, so that then we can go in search of our dreams, we will never reach paradise. If, on the other hand, we accept all that is wrong about us - and despite it, believe that we are deserving of a happy life - then we will have thrown open an immense window that will allow Love to enter. Little by little, our defects will disappear, because one who is happy can look at the world only with Love - the force that regenerates everything that exists in the Universe."

Read it please. And let me know what you think!

Thank you and goodnight.

Why not!

Shameless self promotion to follow.

So I made these cool (well i think they are cool) notebooks for my family and friends for Christmas. They are made from vintage record album covers. It was really fun and everyone seemed to like them....so i decided to make more and try and sell them.

I just opened a shop on Etsy (coolest site ever!) and it's fun to have your own shop!

I'm not asking you to buy anything but would love for you to check it out and let people know about it.

If you want.

No pressure.

:-)

And be careful, Etsy is very addictive.
