Happy Happy Happy Happy Happy Anniversary

Today is my parents Anniversary. 31st to be exact. They are amazing parents and have been such great examples of love and marriage. In a world of failed marriages, "starter" marriages, and no marriage at all, they give me hope.

I unfortunately could not find any pictures from their wedding...not sure where those went. I did find a couple old ones. Aren't they cute?!? (that's me between them, i was pretty cute too)

And finally i dedicate this clip from one of my favorite movies to you. I can totally see my Dad telling all of us singing to SHUT IT!

I love you so much Mom and Dad! Happy Anniversary!

So forgetful...

Why do we forget so often who we are? We forget that we are daughters of God. That we are mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, cousins, friends... That we are phenomenal.

Why do we do that?

I hope this help you all to remember, at least for today.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I have the cleanest ears ever!!

Seriously, I do. They are really clean. Wanna know why? Do ya, do ya? It's cuz i wash em. All the time. With soap even. It works real good.

But what i wish i could do is wash the insides. I use q-tips (even though everyone says not to stick them in your ears) but it's just not enough you know?

Anyone wondering where this is going? Nowhere really. Just a TMI session for you.

Ha! Kidding. Okay so Brittany and I went and did ear candling. I was a little bit nervous but it was so cool and the burning sensation only lasted a few days.

Kidding again. Didn't hurt at all. And it cleaned my ears out really well. I was amazed at the difference.

Here is my ear prior to the procedure...

And here it is after...

Amazing right?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

We started by Entering Into Tranquility.

And then this happened.

We were turned into human cupcakes!

They light a special candle that is stuck in the ear. The flame at the top creates suction and it pulls all the wax out of your ears. Not all of it of course because you need a little bit in there to protect your ears but lot's of it. And it feels great when you are done. I could hear better and my ears felt empty. It's kinda hard to explain but it was cool.

Okay i have a gross picture for you. You can leave now if you want. Just warning you...

It's the inside of the candle after! It's the wax! Gross right!!!! Ick. But at least it's not still inside my ears.

If anyone wants to try it, Rejuvenate Day Spa is running a special all month. I encourage you all to try it.

Easter Fun!

We had a lovely Easter up at Mom and Dad's. It was a bright sunny, beautiful day with flowers coming up all over the place. The perfect symbol of rebirth. I had to give a talk in church that morning so i wasn't super excited about the day but once that was over i was free to enjoy a beautiful Easter Day.

We had a really fun egg hunt for Emmy, while still stressing the true meaning of Easter. It's a hard balance but she seems to get it.

I was dogsitting Spaulding again this weekend and he was also very excited about the egg hunt. I had to follow him around and keep him from eating the eggs.

Emmy has decided that she loves Spaulding. It took her a little while.

New family tradition. Chalking up Emmy's feet and having her run around on the floor.

Bubble blasters are awesome!

Jayne made the cutest cupcakes ever. And they were tasty.

Caleb spent a lot of time running around with Spaulding. The boy needs a dog!

Happy Birthday Jonah!

We all got together on Saturday to celebrate Jonah's belated birthday. There were a lot of balloons and a lot of smiles.

In this family we let the birthday child put out their candle with their finger. It builds strength and character.

I got Jonah this toy. It's very noisy. Your welcome Jayne and Caleb :-)

Jonah's just woke up face.

Awesome hair Leland!!

And here is his father's very hair leg...

Gross eh? :-)

Poor kid wasn't sure about being buried in balloons.

This was his face when they walked in and he saw all the balloons.

Jonah with my favorite toy of the day.

A little toucan flashlight that sings.

Okay listen to this and tell me what it reminds you of. Name that movie!!!!

Conference Fun!

Last Sunday we all got together at the parents house to watch conference and eat dinner. Even though Mom/Lala/Grandma and Uncle Levi were off gallivanting in Oregon we had a great time.

Ready for some cute faces??? Well here you go!

Cousins Jonah and Leland. Don't you love how different their eyes are?

They are so much fun and starting to interact with each other more. They have both recently mastered the very hard skill of walking (i'm still struggling with that one) and are super busy exploring everything.

Jonah has a new trick...

We are actually all a bit confused as to where he picked this up but it's darn cute.

Papa had lots of fun playing with blocks, while listening intently to conference of course.

And the kids had just as much fun knocking down everything he built.

I got Emmy a new princess coloring book and we had a great art session. I told Emmy that it looked like the lady in the picture was on fire and she told me, rather scornfully, that she was not on fire and that it was just a red crayon. Duh, Aunt Katie.

Jonah got tired of walking and sat down on Papa. Why are dad's/grandpa's always so great to sit on?

These kids are so much fun and their personalities come out more and more every time i see them. I am a very lucky Aunt.

Cocaine is BAD...

But i gotta admit that i love the song Cocaine by Eric Clapton.

I in no way condone drug use. Cocaine is especially bad and you end up looking like this:

(she is a wicked good singer by the way, i wish she could get her act together)

Anyway, i do not like drugs and do not suggest ever trying them but whenever this Eric Clapton song comes on i turn it up and rock out. It's just such a great song.

Do you agree? Or do you think I'm promoting drug use by listening to it? (Clapton changes the lyrics btw, to make the song a bit more anti-drug)

Alien Invasion?

Captain's Log Star Date 86273.18.

I woke this morning to find everything outside covered in a unknown heavy, wet, cold substance. My first theory was snow but as it is April 9th, that can't be it. I will investigate further and report back.

I'm pretty much famous

I listen to this great podcast each called the Friday Feedbag. It's through the Discovery Channel and it's way too cool for school. I learn lot's of great facts that make me more like Dwight each day.

They did a podcast story about Thunder Snow and then a couple of weeks later we actually had Thunder Snow in our forecast. So i sent them a screen cap of the forecast.

Turns out they pretty much love me and talked about me on the podcast and posted the screen cap on the blog. So i'm pretty much famous. I know, you are very lucky to know me.

Everyone at work is so jealous and wants my autograph, which i of course happily provided. Here is it on Brittany's wall.

Here is a close up. You can print this off and hang it on your wall as well.

I need to work on my Blue Steel look...

Mountain Maggots

That's what we call sheep round these parts. What do you call them in your neck of the woods?

So generally i really don't like sheep. Just a personal preference. But i have always loved, been in awe of, amazed by sheep herding dogs. I like to go to the competitions and watch them work.

I saw this video on YouTube and just died. It is so awesome. You will love it too. Because i said so. I mean the guys do a great job and it's just a brilliant idea but again, i love the dogs. I love the Pong section.
