It's Tea Time!

Anyone for tea and strumpets? (name that movie)

I received in the mail the cutest baby shower invite IN THE WORLD. Seriously. I was invited to a shower for one of the Cheaping Girls and it's being thrown by another of the Cheaping Girls. Now if you've ever met or read the blog of the Cheaping Girls you will know that they don't do anything halfway and it's always cute/adorable/stylish/perfect.

Okay so it came in a little box and packed with pale yellow paper strips. Nestled inside the paper was this:

Cute right? And inside was this:

And this:

It was a tiny little teacup and saucer with a bag of delicious tea. Amazing right? I would never think to do something this darling. Oh well. Sorry everyone I've thrown showers for. You should of made friends with a Cheaping Girl.

Random Photo Friday

I haven't had much to say lately...lucky for you guys!!! Today is no exception. I got nothing. Why don't you write in and tell me about you? That'd be fun.

Anyhoo, i was cleaning out my photo folder and found some random shots that made me smile. Maybe they will make you smile too.

Or they may just make you scratch your head. Like this one...

Any thoughts?

I love this picture...

The poppies decided to grow in the irrigation ditch out front. I love poppies.

This is one of my favorite memories.

Is there anything better than a baby falling asleep on your chest? I think not.

And then my Emmy Girl. I love this kid.

She was trying so hard to her her tongue to go off to the side there. She has a very talented Aunt as you can see.

Crab = Happiness

Yet another story from Oregon...

While on the coast we went to lunch at the Wayfarer. I had crab on the brain and had been craving it for months (years, my whole life). I immediately zeroed in on the hot crab sandwich with beer battered fries. Aunt Sue and Laila ordered the same thing and boy are we glad we did.

There were actually two halves to this sandwich, i just got so distracted by the deliciousness that i forgot to take pics till the first half was down the hatch. It was the best sandwich I've ever had in life. I know that seems a bit emphatic but I'm very serious. Best. Ever.

First of all it was on a delicious crusty baguette. Then it was smeared with garlic butter. Then a layer of Boursin-scented cream cheese. Then huge chunks of sweet Dungeness crab and finished off with ooey, gooey, delicious Tillamook cheddar cheese. And they didn't scrimp on the crab like some of these so-called "seafood restaurants". No this was some serious crab.

See that thing right there ^? That's a chunk of crab. Sorry about the pics, they were taken with my iPhone.

Open wide!

Jacob enjoying a fry. He eats very healthily so fries are a super treat.

You can see how serious he is about it.

And after fries and pieces of crab, he was done... To much deliciousness for such a small person.

Anyhoo, if you are ever in Cannon Beach and want to eat an amazing sandwich stop by the Wayfarer. You will not be disappointed.

I'm going to go eat lunch now, I made my self hungry, I may need to hop a plane back to Oregon...

Be Good To Your Boobs!

Hello Friends!

I received an email with a video from my Aunt this morning that i feel is very important. The video is about Inflammatory Breast Cancer, which i had never heard of. It turns out that a lot of women have never heard of it.

Here is my Aunt's email:

Hi girls,
I had never heard of this so wanted to pass it along. This starts out looking like a bug bite on your breast. While doing a self-breast exam monthly (not while on period) should always be done, you should also look at your breasts for distortions, bruises, enlargements, etc. Watch the video please.

Love ya all. Be good to your boobs!

Please learn about IBC and let others know. We can't afford to be ignorant about this girls. Love you all!

Cute Old Men and Turkey Burgers

I was at a seminar in Portland this past weekend and ate lunch both days in the hotel restaurant. I sometimes feel a bit weird eating alone but there were many other solitary diners there so it wasn't too bad. The best part of eating out alone? I got the bread basket all to myself. Yum, yum, yummy carbs.

So the second day I was sitting there eating a delicious turkey burger when a very cute old man sat down by me. The chef and the servers all knew him so I guess he was a regular. He flirted in a cute old man way with the server and gushed over the desert. A couple of times he turned and included me in the conversation and i couldn't help but just smile so big.

(and yes, i totally took this pic with my phone in total stalker mode)

I don't know why but he just made me happy. He just seemed like a very content, happy person. I hope that I am like that when I'm old...or now for that matter.

Starfish, Sea Anemones and Saggy Boobs

Spent a day at the coast last weekend. I love the ocean so much. I think I actually might need to move close soon but I'm having a hard time thinking about leaving my sweet niece and nephews. I really enjoy Cannon Beach when the tide is low. You can see all sort of cool critters. We found starfish, sea anemones, crabs, all kinds of fish, all sorts of was a good day. I also found my favorite new sea critter, and you will see a pic in a sec. Here are pretty things first.

I'm not sure what this crab was doing but there was a lot of foam coming out of him/her.

It's all just so beautiful.

Okay are you ready for this?

Does this picture remind you of anything?

Saggy boobs anyone? Saggy, 101 year old, breastfed six baby boys boobs? Yeah, that's what i thought too! Great minds think alike i guess. I feel kinda bad for these anemones being stuck out of the water and subject to gravity (much like aged boobs) while the tide is low, but i guess they do it everyday.

On that note, good night and i hope you all have a wonderful sabbath. :-)

More Music

I'm on a music kick right now i guess.

I wanted to let you all know about one of my favorite duos right now. She & Him. She & Him is the fantastic little duo of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. They only have one album (Volume One) out right now but are working on a second.

"She & Him made their debut record as a love letter to the musicians who inspired it. Volume One (Merge Records) introduces a boy and girl choir hell-bent on making music the old-fashioned way: by hand - and with as few machines as humanly possible. Ward and Deschanel share a mutual affection for the songs they grew up hearing on Los Angeles radio stations - and keep in their hearts the records that most DJ's aren't playing anymore: Les Paul and Mary Ford, The Ronettes, Nina Simone, Chet Atkins, Linda Ronstadt, the Carter Family and about a hundred others."

If you have not heard these two you are really missing out. They are just amazing. "Two thumbs WAY up!"

I'm also really diggin' on James Morrison. He has a great sound and writes well.

The end.
