Babysitting Bouncy Babies

Caleb and Jayne went away for the night for Caleb's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALEB!!) and Mom and I watched the kids. We had so much fun. I have not laughed so hard in a long time.

They are both such good kids and it was so much fun but it cracks me up that it took two of us to wrangle them. Mom was wondering how she used to take care of four of us by herself (Dad helped too but he was TDY a lot).

We mostly kept giving them food to distract them from missing their parents.

And Jonah was just fine with that.

This might be the most frightening picture i've ever taken.

Keep an eye on this one Jayne.

Jonah was very excited for the tramp.

And then he hid under it. Not so safe with Emmy bouncing on top.

We had some real quality tramp time. I was the kangaroo and Emmy was the lion. Not sure where she got this from but apparently lion LOVE to eat kangaroo (despite the fact that they reside on two different continents). Emmy's imagination amazes me. She makes up the craziest stories and songs and they all make perfect sense to her. If i had one wish for us all tonight it would be that we could all be a bit more childlike.

This is a close up of the lion eating the kangaroo. It was really gory.

This is one of my favorite new pics of Emmy, and you can't even see her face. I just love the hair.

We even attempted bath time.

Check out the farmer's tan on Jonah!

In a final attempt to wear them out before bedtime we roughhoused for awhile.

And MAGIC TRICKS BY EMMY!!!

They finally fell asleep and we all got some much needed rest.

The next morning I let Emmy dress herself and we ended up with this:

Stripes and polka dots...need i say more?

Still cute as a button.

Jayne (and my mom and all of you other mothers), you are saints for doing this all day every day. I hope that I can be as wonderful a mother as you are. Good thing I have your kids to practice on eh? Poor kids :-) Anyway, call me anytime!!

If you need a smile, come on in.

Saw this little Fraiser dog at the grocery today.

He has good balance! And very good self control.

This is my ghetto jeep cover. Now keep in mind that i live in a very rich town, evidenced by the red Mercedes behind the jeep. I am one of the poor ones :-) Anyway i have the top off the jeep but it's been raining a lot the last couple of weeks (very weird for Utah) and i needed a quick fix. Bring on the tarp and bungees. It works great, i just get some weird looks.

Sweet eh? I knew you would like it.

Sitting in boredom, waiting for food...

the truck is late I'm in a bad mood.
I sit in my world of boxes and cans,
peanut butter, chili, beef stew, and jam.
Let me out, let me out, I can't take anymore!
I hate expectations of a common food store.
This isn't Smith's Food King, Albertson's or Dan's.
It's just my little prison, here among the cans.

That's for you girls.

11 years ago next month I was heading off to work at Camp Loll up in the Teton Mountains. Little did I know I was embarking on the adventure of a lifetime and that I would be back for three more summers.

We lived in tepee's.

And cut firewood for the showers.

It is pretty much the best place on the earth.

This is us on a good day. We were semi-clean.

We really bonded.

This was us then:

And on Saturday a few of us got back together again. It's amazing how with some friends you can go years without getting together and when you meet again you pick right back up like no time passed at all. That's how it is with these friends. We love each other unconditionally and have so much fun together. It feels so good to be with people who know you so well and with whom you can laugh until your cheeks hurt.

Despite Tess wielding a knife, we had a great day.

With lot's of watermelon of death and other yummy foods.

And we all had our own plates! This is odd for us. At camp we girls usually ate off the same plate and fork. Not sure why. It just happened that way.

Heathen is still as crazy as always.

But now she has this yummy little munchkin:

Check out this sweet diaper action:

This is my little introspective boy.

I had to pick him up after taking this picture and hug him tight. I just couldn't help myself.

This is Lainey, Tess's little girl. I just love this picture.

We spent a wonderful day laughing till it hurt, playing with babies, eating lot's of food, looking at scrapbooks and doing some serious reminiscing. We have changed a lot in the past few years but it turns out that we are still the same crazy girls we once were. And i hope we stay that way forever!

People Playing in a Park

Our family tries to get together at least once a month for some sort of planned activity. Even though we all live pretty close to each other it's amazing how hard it is to get all of us together for things.

Last week we got together for kite-flying and Frisbee tossing fun at a great park near my house.

Emmy is a pro kiter. It's actually amazing that the thing doesn't take off with her she is so tiny.

Amanda is finally back on her feet (figuratively speaking) and it was great to have her, Zach and Leland there.

Look at this form! Levi was born to fly kites.

After getting everyone fed:

And playing on the jungle gym for a bit:

We headed back into the field for some sweet frisbee action.

I think Jayne has the best form in the family.

Notice Leland wandering off in the distance. The kid likes to walk and walk and walk and then walk some more. I promise that i stopped taking pics and went after him.

This is Jonah's very favorite place to be (besides nursing).

Emmy decided to work on her tan, i love the look on her face.

Caleb and Jayne had chicken wars with their children. Emmy and Jayne kicked Caleb and Jonah's trash :-)

I am continually amazed at the great dads that my brothers have become.

From pesky little brothers that i wasn't sure if i would kill before they had a chance to become dads to wonderful, caring and completely doting fathers. It has been such a cool transformation to watch.

Children are such miracles.

Our entire family now revolves around these little munchkins.

And we are all happier and better people for it.
