Happy Christmas!!!

I've been at my parents for Christmas and away from my computer...the shakes are really bad but other than that i'm handling the withdrawal well.

We had a lovely Christmas, very quiet which is VERY nice. We put on the Nativity scene Christmas Eve and it was so funny...i mean, i mean funny.

I'm dog sitting a sweet little guy named Spaulding for the week and he has been so much fun. My parents really need a dog, i'm renting or i would get one. Blah.

So we had a homemade Christmas this year and everyone did such a great job, except me. Here are some of the amazing things that were made. Just wait, i'll show you what i made in just a minute.

First we have a princess mirror for Emmy made by Lala:

Zachary made this beautiful dream catcher for Mom.

Amanda made me this so cute moose ornament:

Jayne made this darling t-shirt for dad:

Jayne also made this blanket for Levi:

Mom made the lion blanket on the couch for Emmy:

I made this awesome fur thong thinger for...

Just kidding i didn't make this. I don't believe i killing furry zebras.

Jayne and Caleb gave me these beautiful photos:

Levi tied all of Dad's ties which was greatly needed since Mom foolishly untied all of them and they don't know how tie ties :-)

I gave him the cool Led Zeppelin tie:

I bought Dad a new body pillow and made the pillowcase. It pretty much rocks!

And for the pièce de résistance... Ta Da!!!!!

In case you are wondering they are sweaters. Deconstructed and then reconstructed sweaters. I won't be trying this again.

I hope you all had a happy and blessed Christmas and i wish you a joyous New Year!!

Happy Birthday Jane Austen!

Today is the birthday of the venerable, infamous and sometimes altogether scandalous (for her time) Jane Austen. I've read all of her books and must say that i love them all.

Here is a list. You should definitely read them all if you haven't already.
And in Jane's honor i will now display images of my favorite Austen Men.

Can i get an AMEN??? AMEN!!!!

What about all ya'll? What are your favorites of hers?

Favorite book? Favorite heroine or hero? Favorite actor who plays said hero? Inquiring minds want to know...

Christmas Questions

I haven't done a TTA for a while now and thought i would throw a few questions at you all at once.

I would love to hear from all of you. I have not yet started my family but i would love to know how all of you do things in your homes.

  1. Do you make your cards? Do you buy your cards? Do you even send cards?
  2. What is your favorite Christmas carol and why do you like it?
  3. How do you bring the spirit of Christmas into your home?
I guess i'll start things off.

I don't send cards. I should. Every year i make plans to. Then i don't. I always think that i will send them once i get married and have a family. I hope that's true!

My favorite Christmas carol is Silent Night. It's just beautiful. When i hear it i feel
'Christmas' It's about Christ which i love. It brings me back to the true meaning of the holiday. I love it in German as well. And on guitars. My friends John and Brady Mullen performed it once on guitar and it made me cry.

I don't think i did a very good job of bringing the Christmas Spirit in this year. I live in tiny apartment in a basement. I have no lights up, no tree, no's actually really sad. Maybe i will get something up this week. I would try to invite the Christmas Spirit in by playing Christmas music, displaying a nativity and trying to focus on Christ and giving to others.

Ready for some more?

The weekend after Thanksgiving we had lot's of fun. We drove up past Sundance and hiked up to the first waterfall on the Timp trail...

We went bowling as a family...I won. Once. And it was a fluke. Emmy bowled for me three times and got three strikes...

The next night was spent relaxing at the house and playing games. It was lovely. Eric KICKED our our butts at Trivial Pursuit. I dare any of you to beat him.

Okay, i can't help it. You need some parting cuteness. I may be biased but are these just the cutest faces ever?

Thanksgiving Fun!

We had such a nice quiet Thanksgiving holiday this year. Just Mom, Dad, Levi and I. I made a lasagna and we just had a lovely evening.

Alas, if only this was the end of the story. What came the next day was absolutely crazy. The Oregonians came in on Friday so we had the big family party that night.

Okay, okay, the food came out great and everyone had a great time but it was still a lot of people. I have a hard time with crowds...

Thanks to everyone who came and helped. It was a great time!
